Savaco was founded on 4 February 1991 by Carl SAbbe and Rik VAndemoortele. Both of them graduated as Civil Engineers in Computer Science from Leuven University followed by about five years of professional experience at machine builder LVD in Gullegem.
The company was located in the Wevelgem Enterprise Zone during the first four years of its existence. Expertise during the initial years was aimed at CAD applications (ME10/30) and Unix networks.
They founded their own business premises in 1995 at the Kennedy Business Park in Kortrijk, boasting a capacity of more than 20 employees and a total developed area of 650m². The office space doubled in 2001 to offer space to no less than 50 employees.
In order to service its non-engineering customers with the knowledge acquired surrounding IT infrastructure, networks and integration, the company founded a separate Business Unit in 1999.
Engineering activities were expanded in September 2002 with the service proposition of PTC.
As an organisation Savaco is constantly striving to improve quality and professionalism. This was recognised in 2004 when the company achieved the ISO 9001 quality label.
In 2006 Savaco opened a new office in Sint-Niklaas.
The company continued to grow with the takeover of ABC Computerland in 2008 and, as a result, more than 100 employees are currently employed.
A new Business Unit was founded in May 2010 in relation to Business Productivity Solutions. The goal of this department is to help companies communicate and collaborate with colleagues, suppliers and customers more efficiently. Optimising the business processes and flow of information is amongst the challenges that the unit faces.
In September 2012 Savaco moves to a new, larger location in the Benelux Park in Kortrijk. This relocation to its new offices also heralds “Savaco’s New World of Work”. This is a concept in which architecture, technology and ecology are perfectly interwoven to give working in the office a fresh and innovative feeling. The new building also features a state-of-the-art data centre as a result of which Savaco can now also be called upon for cloud services.
Savaco opens a second data centre in Diegem at the end of 2014 as an extension of and backup for its own data centre.
Savaco celebrates its 25th birthday and looks back upon a quarter of a century of growth. Founders Carl Sabbe and Rik Vandemoortele tell their story about 25 years in the wonderful world of IT in the Voka magazine Ondernemers (in Dutch).
Data security in cloud services is of the utmost importance to Savaco. The company therefore makes great efforts in this area. In 2017 these efforts were acknowledged when Savaco obtained the ISO27001 certificate.
