Simulations for optimal products

Boplan designs, develops and produces durable and highly efficient fall and impact protection for the most demanding environments. All safety products have only one goal in mind: the protection of people, vehicles, buildings and infrastructure.

Their products are carefully simulated during the development phase. The purpose of such an analysis is to gain insight into the operation of a product under various circumstances in order to further optimize the design. Boplan uses a simulation tool for Finite Elements Analysis for this, which requires a lot of computing power. CPU and GPU are therefore very important to successfully complete these simulations.

For these simulations, Boplan therefore needs a powerful desktop with high graphic performance. On their current device: an HP Z1 - such a simulation often took (more than) 6 pm. A very time-consuming task that could go more smoothly today. 

Approach

Need a powerful desktop

Boplan therefore went looking for a more suitable device and called on Savaco and HP for this. Account Advisor Matthias and HP experts advised to run the HP Performance Advisor during such a simulation. That tool gave Boplan a perfect view of the necessary performance to reduce their simulation time, in order to select a suitable new workstation.

In a next step, a demo device was sent: the HP Z6 G5 A with AMD Threadripper, a high-performance device that can easily handle heavy graphics jobs. It was extensively tested and approved. After all, these tests show that on average 50 to even 60% faster Boplan can perform their simulations on their new HP Z6 G5 A. A very nice result and reason enough for Boplan to make this investment.
