Not only in Roger & Roger's main site in Mouscron, where chips are produced, but also in the sister companies within the group, the focus is on operational efficiency. For example, a brand new frozen warehouse was recently built to automate the logistics processes in the Begro sister site in Ardooie, where frozen vegetables are produced.
“To remain competitive in our market, you have to focus on high automation," says Koen Van Ceulebroeck, IT Manager at Roger & Roger. “In the past, all frozen vegetable packaging ended up in our Begro factory in a warehouse where forklift drivers gave them a place via scanning. With the installation of the new warehouse, this is a thing of the past: all pallets are now automatically put away, controlled by a warehouse management system."
Such a high degree of automation naturally also requires a powerful IT platform from which the processes can be controlled. So Roger & Roger went looking for a suitable solution for the warehouse management system in the Budget site. The company had two important requirements in this regard. “To run the software on which our warehouse works, we needed a storage solution that scores high in terms of performance," Koen explains. “At the same time, the solution had to be easy to manage. As the central IT service of our group of companies, we usually work from the headquarters in Mouscron, so there is no permanent IT expert in our budget site. So we were looking for a solution that we can manage with our existing team and that does not require additional IT resources," explains Koen Van Ceulebroeck.
