TWE Meulebeke is part of the German TWE Group and is a worldwide supplier of non-woven products based on polyester fiber. Their products are used in many sectors, such as hygiene, medical applications, filtration products, ... Within the European branch of the international company, TWE Meulebeke is one of the larger sites of the group. TWE Meulebeke also has two subsidiary companies in France.
Since the takeover by the TWE Group, TWE Meulebeke started preparations for the integration of SAP into its sites in Meulebeke and France. In order to implement this integration in a forward-looking manner, the network infrastructure in Meulebeke was to be strongly modernized. In order to guarantee smooth access to SAP in the production environment and warehouses, there was a need for a high-performance wireless network. This network had to make it possible, among other things, to enter information directly into SAP via tablets and wireless scanners in the warehouse. Good WiFi coverage everywhere on the site - just like in the two TWE sites in France - was therefore a crucial requirement.
Savaco has long been a loyal IT partner for TWE. The company therefore also knocked on the door with this challenge at Savaco. "Because of the importance of good WiFi coverage, Savaco proposed conducting a wireless site survey in the three locations," said Michael Vandewalle, IT Support Engineer at TWE. "That way we wanted to guarantee that there would be sufficient coverage wherever necessary."
Together with Savaco, TWE then installed a renewed network solution based on HPE Aruba technology. Both wireless access points and underlying switches have been renewed. In addition, the entire network was duplicated with redundant fiber optic cabling to prevent any cable breakage or other events from disrupting production.
